A truly playful way to learn animation from LA-based animators!
In this fun, hands-on class, we will learn about animation history, principles, and concepts then create our own animations! In our ‘playground’ students get to try hand drawn, stop motion, and historical processes using optical toys, paper, clay, and more!

In this creative class, we will begin by reviewing concepts and methods of animation. Our goal is to think about movement at a frame-by-frame level, and try out different technical processes. Students can then explore a variety of animation techniques in an open studio format including stop motion, optical toys, digital 2d, hand drawn animation as well as project development. Students in this class can work in groups or solo depending on each idea and its needs.
Have a project you want to develop? Bring it! Want a project to learn or flesh out your skills? We got you. This is a great way to build a portfolio piece or try out a technique you’ve always wanted and alongside others who share your interests in animation and media arts!
During our open studio time, we will screen fun animation to inspire you and offer fresh ideas of how you can express yourself through animation. Plus, our director and her assistant(s) are on hand to give demos along the way and assist and support you.
Returning and new students welcome! New students will get basic training on our equipment before turning it loose.

Join us for a fun and creative way to learn one of the leading industry 3D programs from a pro!
In this class, CG artist, Trevor Knapp Jones, will take you through the process of modeling in maya. Trevor will guide you through each step to create a scene, including creating, staging and lighting your elements, animating your camera and final render and export.
> In-person Students will have all materials and equipment provided

A truly playful way to learn animation from LA-based animators! In this animation camp, students will gain a deep understanding of how to control movement at the frame-by-frame level.
Students will walk through the principles of animation using a variety of animation techniques including optical toys, flipbooks, stop-motion techniques, as well as basic digital processes. They will also watch a variety of animated films, both historical and contemporary, and talk about how they were made.
No animation or drawing experience necessary, but a spirit of exploration is required!
Taught in collaboration with the Calibraska Arts Initiative by professional animators and animation students from Los Angeles, CA and/or the coasts.

In this course, designer and artist Trevor Knapp Jones will introduce you to the digital art workflow and how to use it to create fun animated gifs in Adobe photoshop and/or Procreate.
Students will learn skills specific to the digital workflow, like creating brushes, using textures, and how to bring your work to life with basic animation techniques. We will bring your ideas from thumbnail to final gif.

> Students are welcome to bring their own iPad, and equipment or materials to create with. Their items are their responsibility.

Learn how to translate your story ideas into film and animation!
This class with professional storyboard artist Benjamin P. Carow is designed to introduce storyboarding to new learners. Students will learn concepts such as composition, staging, character acting, as well as the art of breaking down scripts and, of course, how to put it all together to make a storyboard.
We will use the same tools and methods storyboard artists use to visualize stories in the industry. Including pitching your ideas, revisions, feedback and more! *spoilers* It will be a lot of fun!

Learn how to tell a story with a single drawing!
In this class with professional storyboard artist Benjamin P. Carow we will play lots of games and activities to learn different drawing techniques, composition strategies, storytelling approaches and more!
Each day will have short presentations and demos, followed by different interactive exercises each day. We will draw a lot but no drawing, writing, or animation experience is required. All are welcome to come have fun and learn a totally unique way to tell your stories!

Unleash your inner artist and rockstar at our music video summer camp!
This summer camp offers a unique experience for creative students to learn how to make music videos using techniques from live action and animation!
Participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of animation and video production, while exploring all the different ways to bring image and sound together!
No prior experience necessary!
**THIS CLASS WILL HAVE A PRE-PRODUCTION MEETING ONLINE THE PREVIOUS WEEK. DAY AND TIME WILL BE DETERMINED SOON**

Here’s a super fun way to learn how to draw some of your favorite characters WITH the artists who work on the show! Each week we will watch a clip from a different Nick show then learn how to draw characters from the show with artists at Nick! We will even have a "throwback" week to learn how to draw old school Nick characters! All are welcome!

DRAWING FOR ANIMATION + GUEST ARTISTS
AGES: 6th-12th grades
TIME: 2-3 MT / 3-4 CT
A super awesome way to learn about the different “gigs” in the animation industry, learn how to develop your drawing skills, and learn from the pros at Nick! In these workshops we will focus on a variety of different ways artists draw for animation at Nickelodeon and in the Animation industry! We will discuss and draw with folks in different departments such as Character Design, Prop Design, Backgrounds, Storyboarding and Visual Development. We are also working on a special “mystery workshop” with a superstar at Nickelodeon! No drawing experience necessary and all are welcome!
We are working on setting up satellite sites for these free workshops across the state of Nebraska. Fill out an interest form and we'll let you know when registration is open!
